A History of Innovation

Actronic was started by Doug Rankin in 1979 in a garden shed in Auckland, New Zealand. He was soon joined by his friend Bob Allison. Doug and Bob had trained in electronic engineering with the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation and were ready to apply their experience in electronic engineering to new fields. They built Actronic on understanding customer needs, and solving problems with a ‘hands-on’ innovative approach. That same attitude sits at the heart of the company today. That’s Actronic’s DNA.

We’re now taking Doug’s and Bob’s legacy of end-user connection, innovation, manufacturing excellence, and service, to a new generation of customers, in new industries, in new geographies. We draw on thirty years of experience in providing innovative solutions to a huge range of challenges.
