A solution developed for a client in 1979 has become one of Actronic’s core businesses.

A waste transfer station was frequently overloading trucks. The loader operators would load trucks with rubbish to a level that seemed about right. If the trucks were later pulled over for weighing at an official weighbridge, their loads were often found to be in excess of regulation, and the trucking company would be fined. Doug and Bob created a system that measured the hydraulic pressure required to lift each load, giving the operator a running total of load on the truck.

New generations of this product, with the brand name Loadrite^®, have been developed since 1979. Loadrite^® has become the leading precision hydraulic weighing system internationally. Although waste transfer stations were the first to use the system, Loadrite® is now used extensively in quarries, mines and forests.
