The Logrite measuring system for the forestry industry was developed at the request of Waratah General Engineering, a leading international manufacturer of mechanised forestry harvesting attachments.
In 1986 Actronic developed a simple relay-based controller for the Waratah Hydraulic Tree Harvester. The harvester head, a sophisticated piece of engineering, fells, de-limbs and processes trees into logs ready for milling. By adding the controller to the harvester, operators could accurately measure each tree as it was harvested and then determine how best to cut it into logs for maximum yield.
Feedback from Waratah about how the controller performed in the forest environment allowed Actronic to progressively improve the basic system. In 1998, following 13 years practical experience, Actronic released the newly branded Logrite controller. This precise, robust measuring system included a solid-state solenoid control on board the head, connected to a graphics display and PC in the cab of the Harvester, to further increase operator control.
The user-friendly Logrite system has become the leading precision measuring system in North America and Australasia – the preferred choice of logmakers
